Treatment Duration Varies Based On:
-
Nature and complexity of concerns
-
Treatment goals
-
Your engagement and between-session practice
-
External stressors and life circumstances
Typical Timelines:
-
Short-Term Issues (8-16 sessions/2-4 months): Specific anxiety management, adjustment to life transition, developing particular coping skills, or addressing focused concerns.
-
Moderate Concerns (12-24 sessions/3-6 months): Depression treatment, moderate anxiety, relationship skill development, or general mental health support.
-
Complex Issues (6-12+ months): Trauma processing, complex mental health conditions, significant life restructuring, or deep-seated patterns.
Progress is regularly reviewed so therapy doesn't continue longer than clinically beneficial. Many clients continue maintenance sessions after active treatment concludes.
-
Initial Phase: Weekly sessions are typically recommended to build momentum, establish therapeutic relationship, develop coping skills rapidly, and provide consistent support during high distress.
Active Treatment: Most clients continue weekly or bi-weekly sessions. Some benefit from more frequent appointments during particularly challenging periods.
Maintenance Phase: As symptoms improve and goals are met, sessions may space to every 2-3 weeks or monthly before transitioning to as-needed or concluding treatment.
Session frequency is collaborative we'll determine the schedule that best supports your goals.
