INCLUSIVE THERAPY PRACTICES
How We Create Inclusive Space
Names & Pronouns: We ask, honor, and use your chosen name and pronouns consistently never questioned, conditional, or treated as a “preference.” Intake forms respect your identity while handling legal separately.
Non-Assumption: We don’t assume gender, orientation, cultural values, relationship structure, ability, or socioeconomic status. We ask, listen, and respect your lived experience.
Ongoing Education: We stay current on LGBTQ+ and cultural issues, attend trainings, and examine our own biases. You’re never responsible for teaching us.
Advocacy & Empowerment: In therapy: we validate experiences, support self-advocacy, and help navigate oppressive systems. Outside therapy: we support inclusive policies, rights, and justice initiatives.
Confidentiality & Safety: We protect your privacy, including for teens not out to family, carefully managing documentation and mandatory reporting concerns.

QUESTIONS YOU MIGHT HAVE
Inclusive Therapy Questions
Fair question. Actions matter more than words. Look at our explicit commitments, anti-conversion therapy stance, pronoun respect, ongoing education, community connections, and client feedback. First session is chance to assess fit.
Won't happen. For minors, we discuss boundaries clearly with families. Your identity isn't something to fix. If parents can't accept that, we help navigate that reality but never attempt to change you.
Questioning is completely valid. You don't need to have everything figured out. Therapy can be space to explore without pressure to label or decide.
We use whatever pronouns you indicate without question. If they change, we adapt. No pronouns are "too difficult" or "confusing."
We process impact, validate experience, develop coping strategies, discuss safety, explore options for addressing when appropriate, and connect to resources.
Good Faith Estimate: Clients paying privately have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate explaining expected costs of care. You may request this prior to scheduling.
